Fat Soluble Vitamins

Fat-soluble vitamins include:

- vitamin A
- vitamin D
- vitamin E
- vitamin K

Fat-soluble vitamins are stored in the body's fat cells and also in
the liver.Fat soluble vitamins are used up by the body slowly. It is
therefore possible for fat soluble vitamins to accumulate in the
body and build up to a level which is toxic.

Fat soluble vitamins are potentially very dangerous to your health
and in some instances lethal if the recommended dose are
exceeded.

It is extremely difficult however, to overdose on vitamins through
the food you eat providing you are eat sensibly. However there
can be too much of a good thing when vitamin supplements are
taken.

Extreme caution is urged when fat soluble vitamin supplements
are taken.

Another important thing to be aware of with regards to
Vitamin A and Vitamin E is the two types of forms they
come in. Both Vitamin A & E come in either oxidized
forms and reduced forms.

The oxidized form of Vitamin A can cause cancer and the
oxidized for of Vitamin E can lead to strokes.

Your risk of cardiovascular disease or cancer increases by an
astonishing 40 - 45% by merely exceeding 5% over the
recommended levels of Vitamin A or Vitamin E.

Vitamin D is potentially the most toxic of all vitamins. Those most
at risk are the ones who take vitamin D supplements, as they can
easily over dose on it, unaware that their body is building up a
stock pile in their fat cells and liver.

Most Vitamin D deficiencies are due to insufficient sunlight
largely due to the melanoma hype accentuated by profit driven
companies who make money selling sunscreen.

It is virtually impossible to overdose on Vitamin D through sun
exposure, you need to use common sense though so you don't
burn in the sun
